Hotel Nikko is an upscale hotel in the Japanese quarter in Düsseldorf, Germany. The area is home to the largest Japanese community in Germany and has many sushi restaurants to chose from. The hotel also hosts the infamous and authentic Benkay Teppanyaki restaurant, but I was only there for one night and there were no seats available. Therefore I decided to try the room service, wondering what it might be like.
Room Service Sushi
I ordered a moriawase plate and was surprised. It came with sake (salmon), hamachi (yellowtail), toro (bluefin fatty tuna) nigiri, sake (salmon) maki (roll), maguro (bluefin tuna back), sake (salmon) and suzuki (sea bass) sashimi. It was a very good selection and everything tasted fresh and good. Especially the toro (bluefin fatty tuna belly) was very tasty and kind of a surprise for me. I didn’t expect such an exquisit tuna cut to be part of a room service moriawase plate. But since the restaurant is mainly frequented by Japanese clients, it probably makes sense.

 Sushi Guide Verdict
The room service sushi at Hotel Nikko was much better then I expected. The atmosphere is not really important in this case, but still I felt comfortable in the hotel room. The menu options are very limited in this case, but still the selection for the sushi plate was excellent. The quality and taste of the fish was outstanding and also the drink selection of the room service menu was good. The service was nice and forthcoming and provided me with everything I needed. Should I ever stay at this hotel again, room service is an option.
