Cho Cho San – Upscale Japanese Cuisine

sushi chef Australia, New South Wales, Sydney Leave a Comment

Cho Cho San is a rather posh and upscale restaurant in Potts Point, Sydney, catering to the trendy crown. It claims to be an authentic Tokyo izakaya style restaurant and certainly delivers in terms of a very reduced and simply design concept. It is the sister restaurant to The Apollo, the definitely best greek restaurant I have been to in all of Australia, maybe even the world.

Quick Dinner

I just went to the sushi restaurant for a quick dinner and had a sashimi plate with sake (salmon), maguro (tuna), hamachi (yellowtail), hotategai (scallop) and kaki (winder oyster). Especially the sake and hamachi were if supreme quality and taste, making it a dinner to be remembered. The dishes were served in a very traditional manner, focussing on the freshness of the fish rather than fancy sauces.

Sushi Guide Verdict

All in all, Cho Cho San is a very chic and upscale restaurant, in terms of interior design, food quality and pricing. The atmosphere is rather cold but definitely unique and highly aesthetic. The menu options are rather limited but the quality and taste of the food was amazing. The drink menu is limited but of superior quality as well. The team was very friendly and forthcoming, but rather pushy in terms of the progression of the courses. There was no Japanese personal there during my visit, making the restaurant less of a Japanese experience, especially considering the pace of things.
